"UNRWA gained access to the Palestinian refugee camp of Yarmouk in Damascus today and started to distribute food parcels this morning. 100 families received food by 1200hrs. Distributions are ongoing.
"UNRWA needs to distribute 700 food parcels a day in order to stave off hunger and malnutrition among the 18,000 civilians trapped in the besieged enclave.
"Resolution 2139 adopted unanimously by the Security Council on 22 February calls on all parties to facilitate secure, substantial and sustained humanitarian access in Yarmouk and all civilian areas."
