Our spokesperson Chris Gunness has the following to say on the situation in Yarmouk Camp
Dire humanitarian crisis facing civilians in Yarmouk, Damascus
"No UNRWA distribution of humanitarian assistance was carried out in Yarmouk on 17 June. The UNRWA team did not proceed with the mission as the security situation in Yarmouk did not allow for humanitarian operations to take place following clashes overnight.
"UNRWA is concerned that this latest break in its Yarmouk distribution has extended to a tenth day. The Agency demands that armed hostilities cease and urges all concerned parties to restore daily distribution of humanitarian assistance to help address what remains a dire humanitarian crisis facing civilians in Yarmouk. UNRWA is concerned by the plight of the estimated 18,000 civilians trapped in Yarmouk and continues to advocate for continuous, substantial and safe humanitarian distributions to civilians there."
