Our spokesperson Chris Gunness has the following to say on the situation in Yarmouk Camp

"UNRWA's food distribution inside Yarmouk continued for a fourth consecutive day since it resumed following a long break. In four and a half hours, the UNRWA team today delivered food parcels, hummus, jam, vitamin supplements, re-hydration salts, lice and scabies treatments to 509 civilian families in Yarmouk.

"The UNRWA team arrived at the northern Bateekhah entrance of Yarmouk at 10:40 hrs and commenced its work at 11:45 hrs at the distribution point adjacent to Rama Street inside Yarmouk. The distribution proceeded in an organized and orderly manner until its completion at 16:30 hrs.

"The support and facilitation of Syrian authorities remains essential to sustaining UNRWA's food distribution and to extending the availability of food and other aid items to many more of Yarmouk's over 18,000 civilians. It is encouraging that order has been restored in the distribution process and that there has been a progressive daily rise in the number of civilians who have received UNRWA parcels over the past four days. Considering the gravity and scale of civilian suffering and humanitarian needs inside Yarmouk, much more needs to be done by all concerned parties to allow UNRWA significantly to accelerate and expand its humanitarian action inside Yarmouk.

"UNRWA will maintain its advocacy for continuous, substantial and safe humanitarian access, and for the protection of Palestinian and Syrian civilians in Yarmouk and across Syria."
