Our spokesperson Chris Gunness has the following to say on the situation in Yarmouk Camp

"UNRWA was not authorized to distribute food parcels in Yarmouk today, 14 July. This interruption follows a period of food distribution from 7 to 13 July, during which UNRWA distributed food parcels to 3,316 civilian families in Yarmouk. Syrian authorities informed UNRWA that Palestinian charities had been authorized to distribute food parcels inside Yarmouk and that UNRWA’s food distribution will be permitted to resume shortly.

"UNRWA remains deeply concerned about the desperate humanitarian situation in Yarmouk and the fact that frequent disruptions of its humanitarian efforts deepen the plight of over 18,000 trapped civilians. UNRWA has reiterated its appeals to all parties to ensure that UNRWA is permitted to distribute humanitarian assistance in Yarmouk on a continuous, substantial and safe basis. UNRWA requires uninterrupted, daily access to Yarmouk to meet the minimum humanitarian needs of the civilian population."
