PALESTINE – Gaza crisis

• On 25 July, two ambulances (Palestine Red Crescent Society) came under attack in Beit Hanoun; one medical staff was killed and three other injured.

• On 26 July confrontations resumed. Over 100 bodies were recovered during the pause and supplies were delivered to localities previously inaccessible within the three kilometre ‘buffer zone’ set by Israel.

• On 27 July, 15 Palestinians were killed in clashes with Israeli security forces in the Gaza Strip. Since the operation began: 1 065 Palestinians were killed and over 6 200 were wounded (Palestinian Health Ministry).

• The number of people displaced by the conflict exceeds now 250 000.

CHINA– Floods

• Yunnan: river overflow caused the death of seven people, seven were missing and eight were injured.

• Only ten days ago, Typhoon RAMMASUN affected Yunnan with heavy rains, floods and landslides, killing at least 28 people in the province (out of a total of 56 dead in four provinces of southern China).

CHINA – Tropical Cyclone MATMO

• Due to the passage of the Tropical Cyclone MATMO, 13 people were killed, approx. 2 600 houses collapsed in eight affected provinces, while 37 000 people were in imminent need of humanitarian assistance (Chinese Government).

USA - Wildfire

• The Carlton Complex fire in Okanogan County (Washington State) burnt over 100 000 ha and it was still active as of 28 July. Media report approx. 300 homes burnt and hundreds of livestock dead.

INDIA– Landslide

• On 26-27 July heavy rains triggered a landslide in Pangla village (Pithoragarh district, Uttarakhand), killing five people and injuring three others.

• For the next two days, heavy rains are forecast in the state of Uttarakhand, with alert warnings for a number of districts. Following the warning,
Government of India's disaster management teams are on standby.

• ECHO India is following the situation with Partners that are operational in the state.
